Journal #95

Objects and ideas only make sense in relationship to other objects or ideas.
Why do we see this kitten as tiny?
Would it be possible to make it look huge?
How?

We see the kitten as tiny because it is in the palm of a person's hand. Plus the length of the kitten is about the size of the palm.
yes it would be possible to make it look huge, we could make it look like two guys are holding the kitten up.

If you break me,
I do not stop working.
If you touch me and I may be Snared.
If you lose me,
Nothing will matter.
What am I?

Journal #93

You are lost in the wilderness without a compass, GPS, cell phone etc., You have lost your sense of direction, but know that there is a creek to the west of you about 10 miles. If you can find the creek and follow it, you are sure to find people camping and fishing who can help you.
Over the course of 10 miles you could veer North or South by only a few degrees and you would miss the creek.
Come up with three ways that you can find North.
You may use the web if you need it to help you find the three solutions.

One way is that you could just keep going left until you hit the creek and follow it up.
Another way is that you could look at where your shadow is pointing and follow that.
One other way is looking at the sunrise since it rises in the west.

Journal #90

A person is lying dead in the middle of a field. Four feet away is a backpack the contents of which was meant to save his life, but instead was the cause of his death. He did not intentionally kill himself and nobody else harmed him. he did not die of natural causes. What was the man carrying in his backpack?

The man was Skydiving. The parachute in the bag was supposed to help him fall slower.

Begin with an unmarked tub that contains a little more than 17 gallons of water
You have a three gallon and a five gallon measuring device. Without losing any water, measure out four gallons and twelve gallons into two separate unmarked tubs
You cannot retrieve water from the unmarked tubs once you have added it.

Fill the five gallon tub all of the way, then dump it in  the three gallon so you have two gallons in the five gallon tub. repeat to get two gallons. there should then be 14 gallons left in the tub.

Abraham Lincoln is credited with the saying that it is better to remain silent and have everyone think that you are an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
What did he mean by this statement?
Do you agree or disagree and why?

I think that he meant that it is better to stand there and have everyone think what they want to think than open your mouth and probably make it worse. I believe if you know that its right, than that is your own assumption, best not make it worse by opening your mouth. Plus its respectful to just take it than say something back.

Describe the image in as much detail as you can remember.

This is a black and white image with the picture of a kid wearing shorts and a shirt standing out in the middle of a field. In the background there is a house, chapel, or school that is about two stories. There are white fixtures on the stairway to the door. There is also a little building in the back of the school, chapel, or house. The sky looked like a cloudy day with a little black blotch on the lower horizon.

The man who is good at excuses is seldom good for anything else.
-Samuel Foote

The implications of this poem are probably, well for one, that anyone who makes excuses will probably not know what he is doing. I agree with this quote because if you live your whole life doing nothing but make excuses, you will not go far in life and will probably be good for nothing.
The kind of man I think Samuel Foote was, was probably at one point in his life a man who made excuses. It probably occurred to him that making excuses got him nowhere so he made that quote.

Journal #82

Use the three new checks to continue writing the story that you started yesterday.

Did I say happy ever after? Well, turns out that the broken bones Michael suffered started to stick out of his body. So Jane, being the loving wife that she is, went to Griggs Formal Wear and bought her husband clothes for his newly acquired "limbs". So, for Michael to recover faster, he had to go to rehab. So one day Jane tells Michael that they have to go to the funeral house. Now of course Michael thought that they were going for him and freaked out and ran. So Jane went by herself to buy a casket for their great-great-grandfather.

Using the information on the three checks, create a story that fits the timeline.

Jane went down to Toys 'R' Us and bought her son Jake $230.28 of whatever he wanted. Her son was ecstatic with joy that he went to play with his toys right away. Little did Jane know that Jake had scattered all of his toys around the house. When her husband, Michael, returned home from work, he tripped over Jake's toys, fell, and broke many bones in his body.  Having the worst luck possible, he had to drive himself to the hospital. He also had to write the check for the hospital with his crippled hand. When Michael came home the next day, he gave the prescription the doctor had given him, to Jane. They both then went to the nearest Target Superstore and bought $352.34 worth of medicine. They all lived a happy life.........except for Michael, who had bone problems for the rest of his life.
