Today tell us about the antagonist's psychological past and how it affects who he/she/it is today.
What has the character gone through that has made him/her/it who they are today? Are they insane? Misunderstood, fighting for an alternate good? Greedy, power hungry? Or just plain mean?
This is not written to create suspense, it should help you understand your character, write everything you know about your character.
My antagonists have many different backgrounds. About the only thing they all have in common is that they all have a wrestling background. All of them have done wrestling since they were very young and have progressively gotten better. All the antagonists are mean on the mat, like you are supposed to be. Every one is fighting for the same goal of being a NCAA National Champion. All the characters have gone through sweat and tears to be a state champion and make it to the NCAA finals.
